Tristan Stubbs grabs a one-handed stunner to dismiss Moeen Ali

'Is it a bird? Is it a plane? No, it's Tristan Stubbs!'

Over the years, we have attributed the same statement for plenty of South African fielders. On Sunday, Stubbs added himself to the elite list courtesy of his one-handed stunner in the third T20I against England.

It all happened on the last delivery of the 10th over when Moeen Ali, in an attempt to close the face of the bat, ended up getting a leading edge.

Ali would still have survived 9 times out of 10 as the ball had ballooned up in no man's land. But Stubbs had other ideas.

The 21-year-old proceeded to turn on his Jonty Rhodes (or Herschelle  Gibbs or Faf du Plessis) mask as he flew like a superman to his left to grab a one-handed stunner.

Moeen looked absolutely shell-shocked and one couldn't blame him either. Ever the South African players couldn't believe what they had just seen. To be fair, none of us could. It was simply breathtaking stuff from Stubbs.

His freak catch also meant that England sank further in their pursuit of 192 as they lost 4 wickets for just 59 runs at the halfway mark.

Shamsi followed Stubbs' classic catch with sensational spell

The second phase of England's run-chase was all about Tabraiz Shamsi, who notched up a match-winning 5-wicket-haul to hand the Proteas a 2-1 series win.

Shami backed up Stubbs' superman effort in the field by removing Liam Livingstone, Sam Curran and David Willey in his next 2 overs to reduce the hosts to 79-7.

The left-arm wrist-spinner did not relent one bit as he mopped up Chris Jordan and Adil Rashid in his final over to finish with figures of 5/24.

Maharaj then completed the formalities by dismissing Jonny Bairstow.

Earlier, South Africa rode on excellent knocks from Reeza Hendricks (70 off 50), Aiden Markram (51* off 26) and cameos from David Miller (22 off 9) and Stubbs (8 off 4) to post an eventual match-winning score of 191-5.
