Team India has arrived in Dubai to take part in the Asia Cup 2025, set to commence from September 9 in UAE. The Suryakumar Yadav-led side will play their first game on Wednesday against UAE.
On Friday, the 15-member squad gathered at the ICC Academy Oval in Dubai, where the players sweat hard in the nets from 5:00 pm until 9:00 pm as the temperature soared to a high of 38° C.
Shubman Gill And Jasprit Bumrah Engage In Fun Battle
All the players looked in great touch, as the likes of Shubman Gill, Sanju Samson, Suryakumar Yadav, and Jitesh Sharma all hit the nets.
According to ESPN Cricinfo, Shubman Gill and Jasprit Bumrah had a fun battle, where the latter also teased the right-handed batter, who looked to struggle initially. Bumrah bowled full throttle and got the better of India's new Test skipper.
However, as the training proceeded, Gill found the touch and also whacked Bumrah for a few good shots. In a nutshell, both Bumrah and Gill looked in great touch.
Jitesh Sharma Likely To Be Preferred Ahead Of Sanju Samson
The training session further dropped more hints on India's team selection, as a report from Revsportz quoted by News18 mentioned that Jitesh Sharma is likely to be preferred ahead of Sanju Samson.
The report added that Jitesh was the first to hit nets ahead of Samson and also did the wicketkeeping duties in the training, whereas Sanju was seen practising high catches and outfield fielding, indicating that the management is looking at Jitesh as their first-choice keeper.
Although it is likely that Samson and Jitesh both get to feature in the playing XI, as Samson was the only batter to bat twice in the nets on Friday.
