West Indies and Australia are ready to lock horns once again as the second Test of the series gets underway at the National Cricket Stadium in St Georges, Grenada, starting Thursday, July 3. The exciting clash will kick off Thursday at 7:30 PM IST

After being handed a 159-run defeat in the first Test, West Indies will be eager to turn the tide and prove they are not just here to make up the numbers. It was a tale of missed chances for the Caribbean side.

Jayden Seales and Shamar Joseph gave them a sniff early on, but Travis Head's twin fifties and Hazlewood’s five-for in the final innings proved too much. That said, there was plenty for the Windies to build on and they will be itching to bounce back in familiar home conditions.

National Cricket Stadium, St Georges, Grenada Is It Batting Or Bowling Friendly?

This venue in St Georges has got teeth, especially for the fast bowlers. Grenada’s pitch is traditionally known to offer early seam movement and bounce, especially on Days 1 and 2. New-ball bowlers who can hit the deck hard and extract bounce are often rewarded. That makes the toss crucial as three of the four Tests played here have been won by sides that bowled first.

The average first innings score at this venue is 278, which tells you it's not a dream track for batters. However, things begin to settle down from Day 2 onwards. The second innings average score rises to 365 and batters can then play more on the up, trusting the bounce and looking to cash in.

As the Test wears on, especially moving into Days 4 and 5, spinners begin to come into play. There is a bit of rough that helps the ball grip and turn, particularly for wrist spinners or finger spinners who use drift effectively. In essence, Grenada offers something for everyone. It is bowler-friendly early, becomes batter-friendly through the middle and then turns into a test of patience and skill in the final innings.
