Yash Dhull achieves rare feat, scores ton in both innings on Ranji Trophy debut

Delhi batter Yash Dhull achieved a rare feat on his Ranji Trophy debut after he struck twin tons in the game against Tamil Nadu in Guwahati.

Dhull who led India U19 to the World Cup title notched up his second ton of the match in the second innings. While he remained unbeaten at 113, his opening partner Dhruv Shorey also scored a hundred and returned not out for 107 during the course as Delhi put up 228 without a loss.

Dhull who had opened the innings for Delhi in the first innings as well scored a well-compiled 113. Apart from him, Lalit Yadav also struck a ton as he scored 177 to help the team post 452 on the board.

Later, Tamil Nadu rode on a brisk batting display from Shahrukh Khan who hammered the Delhi bowlers to score 194 in just 148 deliveries and a century from Baba Indrajith to put up a total of 494 in the first innings.

Sri Lanka picked up early wickets in the fifth T20I against Australia in Melbourne on Sunday. Batting first, the hosts had a dismal start to the proceedings after they lost Aaron Finch and Ben McDermott in quick succession to get reduced to 12/2. Skipper Finch was undone for a 12-ball 8 by Chameera after being caught by Lahiru Kumara while McDermott was caught by Pathum Nissanka off Jayawickrama. He scored 3 runs in 13 deliveries. At the time of writing, Australia were 37/1 in just over 7 overs with Glenn Maxwell and Josh Inglis at the crease. Australia have already sealed the series after winning the first four matches.

India wicket-keeper batsman Wriddhiman Saha has made some big revelations after he was not picked in the squad for the Sri Lanka series. The right-hander said that BCCI President Sourav Ganguly had earlier gave him an assurance that as long as he is there (at the helm position), Saha would be there in the side. "After scoring 61 against New Zealand at Kanpur, Dadi (Ganguly) congratulated me over WhatsApp and mentioned, 'As long as I'm here (helming the BCCI), you would be in the team'. Such a message from the BCCI president really boosted my confidence. What I'm struggling to understand is that how things have changed so fast," Saha told The Sunday Express. Saha also revealed that the team management had told him that he won't be considered henceforth. "The team management had told me that I would not be considered henceforth. I could not tell this so long as I was part of the India team setup," Wriddhiman was quoted as saying by PTI on Saturday. "Even coach Rahul Dravid suggested that I think about taking retirement," he added. The squad for the Sri Lanka series was announced on Saturday with Rohit Sharma being named as the skipper of the side while Test mainstays Cheteshwar Pujara and Ajinkya Rahane getting dropped.
