AUS vs SL | 5th T20I: Sri Lanka pick early wickets to push hosts on back foot

Sri Lanka picked up early wickets in the fifth T20I against Australia in Melbourne on Sunday. Batting first, the hosts had a dismal start to the proceedings after they lost Aaron Finch and Ben McDermott in quick succession to get reduced to 12/2. 

Skipper Finch was undone for a 12-ball 8 by Chameera after being caught by Lahiru Kumara while McDermott was caught by Pathum Nissanka off Jayawickrama. He scored 3 runs in 13 deliveries. 

At the time of writing, Australia were 37/1 in just over 7 overs with Glenn Maxwell and Josh Inglis at the crease. 

Australia have already sealed the series after winning the first four matches.

Lahore Qalandars registered a thumping 66-run win against Islamabad United in Lahore. Chasing 198, the United were restricted to 131/9 in 20 overs. The Islamabad side never really got going and lost wickets at regular intervals to get reduced to 100/6 before suffering the defeat. Liam Dawson top-scored with 31 off 26 while Danish Aziz remained unbeaten at 30 off 26. Earlier, in the day, the Lahore side had a struggling start to the proceedings as they were left tottering at 12/3 but Fakhar Zaman along with Harry Brook steadied the ship for the side and provided the resistance. The two batters stitched a stand of 101 runs for the fourth wicket before Zaman was out for 51 off 41. But Brook on the other side, continued with his aggressive batting as he notched up a century and remained not out for a 49-ball 102 which included five maximums and 10 fours during the course to help the side post 197/6 in 20 overs. Faheem Ashraf picked up three wickets for 28 runs in his 4 overs. "Lahore have taken good care of me. I am so happy with the love. I wish them all the very best for the rest of the competition. It makes me happy that I am leaving the team with us on the top. It is a wonderful family. It was about playing our natural game. We had a bad night yesterday. It was about enjoying your game," Rashid said after the match.
