On Saturday, Australia completed a clinical whitewash over Pakistan in the three-match Test series, defeating the visitors by eight wickets in the final match in Sydney. With the resounding victory, the Aussies claimed the top spot in the World Test Championship points table, dethroning India.

The emphatic victory against Pakistan at SCG earned Australia valuable points, taking their tally to 56.25 percentage points in the WTC rankings. Thus, India, who topped the list following their historic win against South Africa in Cape Town, slipped to the second position.

Meanwhile, the crushing defeat in Sydney led to Pakistan's exponential downfall, reducing their percentage points from 45.83 to 36.66. The Shan Masood-led side is now reeling at number six in the WTC 2023-25 points table.

Among others, South Africa and New Zealand, who will take on each other soon in a two-match Test series, are placed third and fourth, respectively.

While Bangladesh occupy the fifth position, West Indies, England and Sri Lanka are ranked seventh, eighth and ninth, respectively, in the WTC standings.

Regarding the SCG Test, Pakistan were bowled out for a paltry 115-run total in their second innings. In response, Australia aced the 130-run chase comfortably, as David Warner and Marnus Labuschagne struck cracking half-centuries.
