WTC Final | 'Not Easy To Overrule Virat Kohli But...': Nasser Hussain Lauds KS Bharat

The only bright light in India's gloomy and dark Day 1 of the ongoing ICC World Test Championship (WTC) 2023 against Australia at The Oval was wicketkeeper Srikar Bharat. Bharat, who is playing just his fifth Test, and first in England, showed immaculate technique behind the stumps, in conditions that are tough for most keepers.
Out of Australia's three-wicket, two had contributions from Bharat, who claimed catches of David Warner and Usman Khawaja. Warner's catch down the leg-side by Bharat was highly commendable, on a day when India found themselves getting deeper into trouble. Travis Head and Steven Smith stockpiled runs and ensured Australia headed into Day 2 with runs under their belt, ending Day 1 on 327 for 3.
Former England captain Nasser Hussain, however, lauded Bharat for his communication skills on the field. After an appeal for Smith's caught-behind was turned down, Virat Kohli and other Indian fielders seemed convinced about the ball touching the former's gloves.
Bharat, who is the youngest in the XI in terms of Tests played, convinced Kohli and talked him down from asking skipper Rohit Sharma for taking the DRS call, for which Hussain praised the Gujarat Titans player during commentary.
Here's what Hussain said
"He was very tough with Virat Kohli. Not easy to overrule Kohli but that's exactly what he did. Kohli wanted to review that but Bharat, playing in his 5th Test match, had to run to King Kohli and say 'Nope, you got that wrong' Brave man, but right."
Former India player and coach Ravi Shastri also added that not many can muster the courage to convince Kohli to change his decision.
