The Pakistan cricket team, off the back of confident wins over Netherlands and Sri Lanka, will continue their World Cup 2023 crusade with a high-profile clash against tournament hosts India. Ahead of team’s all-important fixture against their arch-rivals, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chief Zaka Ashraf caught up with the ‘Men in Green’ players for a motivational pep talk session.

Ashraf’s meeting with the Pakistan players was also attended by team’s support staff, including head coach Grant Bradburn and director of cricket Mickey Arthur.

PCB Chief catches up Pakistan players ahead of India clash

PCB Chief Zaka Ashraf is set to attend Pakistan’s high-octane World Cup 2023 faceoff against India at the majestic Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on October 14. A day prior to the blockbuster showdown, Ashraf was reportedly invited by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) officials for a dinner in the city.

The PCB Chief, currently in India at the behest of the BCCI, also took time to catch up the Pakistan team in a bid to motivate them with a pep talk for their forthcoming World Cup 2023 challenge. He attended a meeting with the players, which featured captain Babar Azam as well as the team’s entire support staff.

Ashraf’s meeting with the Pakistan team, while intended to be an uplifting one, might well create added pressure over Babar Azam and co. as they aim to break their winless World Cup streak against India.

Both India and Pakistan will head into the Ahmedabad turf on October 14 off the back of two confident wins to their name. The ‘Men in Green’, in particular, thumped Netherlands by 81 runs before extinguishing Sri Lanka in a record World Cup run-chase in Hyderabad.

Team India, under Rohit Sharma, trounced Afghanistan and Australia in successive run-chases to pocket four points from their first two fixtures of the 2023 World Cup.
