In a significant development, Mickey Arthur, Grant Bradburn, and Andrew Puttick have officially resigned from their respective positions, as confirmed by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Thursday, January 18.

Arthur, Grant Bradburn, and Puttick previously held coaching positions with the Pakistan Men's Cricket Team until November 2023. Following their disappointing performance in the 2023 World Cup, they were repositioned to the National Cricket Academy in Lahore.

Former Pakistan skipper Mohammad Hafeez took charge as Team Director and assumed the role of Head Coach for the Test series against Australia. Adam Hollioake was appointed as the batting coach for the series, while Umar Gul and Saeed Ajmal shared duties as bowling coaches for fast-bowling and spin-bowling, respectively.

Having not been part of Pakistan's tours of Australia or New Zealand, the overseas coaching trio has decided not to continue their association with Pakistan cricket in any capacity.

"Thank you, Pakistan....it has been a pleasure!"  Arthur wrote on Twitter, marking the end of his nine-month stint.

The PCB has extended its best wishes to them in their future pursuits and expressed gratitude for their contributions.

"All three individuals informed the Pakistan Cricket Board of their decision to leave their respective jobs by the end of January 2024. The decision was taken amicably between all the stakeholders. The PCB wishes them well in their future endeavors and is grateful for their services,"  the PCB said in a release.

In April 2023, Arthur was appointed Director of the Pakistan men’s cricket team, while Bradburn was announced as the head coach of the Pakistan national men’s side earlier last year. Former South Africa cricketer Puttick was Pakistan’s batting coach from April 2023. Under their guidance, Pakistan had a mixed year with varying fortunes across different formats.

In Tests, Pakistan couldn’t win the series against New Zealand at home, whitewashed Sri Lanka 2-0 away, but ended the year with a 3-0 series loss to Australia Down Under.

They were among the teams competing for the top spot and were even crowned the No.1 team in the ICC Men's ODI Rankings. However, their success did not translate to the ODI World Cup, where they lost five out of nine games and failed to reach the semi-finals. Pakistan suffered their first-ever bilateral series loss to Afghanistan in T20Is in March and only managed to draw T20I series against New Zealand at home.

Before his recent stint, Arthur served as the head coach of Pakistan from 2016 to 2019, during which Pakistan attained the No.1 spot in the ICC Test team rankings and won the 2017 ICC Champions Trophy. Despite these achievements, PCB left no option for Arthur and thus he parted ways.

Arthur can now focus on Derbyshire, where he is contracted until 2025, while Bradburn, installed as Glamorgan head coach on January 8, will commence his new role in South Wales in the coming weeks.
