The Pakistan cricket team landed in Hyderabad amidst an over-enthusiastic crowd at Hyderabad's Rajiv Gandhi International Airport on Wednesday i.e., a couple of days prior to their 2023 World Cup warm-up affairs. The 'Men in Green' players were seen leaving the airport premises around huge cheers from scores of fans, with many lined up to catch a glimpse of visiting captain and batting superstar Babar Azam.

One such fan in attendance was a Pakistani national, popularly known as Basheer' Chacha'. While he holds US citizenship, Basheer frequently travels across the world to show his support for the Pakistan team in their international matches.

As it turned out, he was detained by the authorities at the Hyderabad airport after he was seen embracing Pakistan team’s arrival for the forthcoming 2023 World Cup.

Basheer, in his mid-70s, was seen waving Pakistan’s national flag at the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport to welcome Babar Azam’s troops in Hyderabad for the 2023 World Cup.

Authorities at the airport soon detained him after they were alerted that he was waving around the Pakistan flag at the premises.

Basheer, fully aware of India’s political tensions with Pakistan, co-operated with the authorities and introduced himself as a travelling Pakistan fan. After he furnished his travel details and identity cards, he was let off by the airport officials.

Pakistan team, meanwhile, is slated to face New Zealand at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad on September 29 for the first of their two warm-up fixtures. The ‘Men in Green’ will subsequently face Australia on October 3 at the same venue before commencing their tournament campaign with a match against Netherlands on October 6.
