India are prepared to face the West Indies once more on Sunday (August 6) in the second T20I of the five-match series in Guyana. Hardik Pandya, the Men in Blue skipper, would like to lead by example to level the series after the visitors' disappointing four-run loss in the first game.
In the process, Pandya could pull off an incredible feat and go ahead of Jasprit Bumrah, his former Mumbai Indians teammate.
So far, Pandya has played 88 T20Is and picked up 70 wickets. Jaspirt Bumrah has also had the same number of wickets in the format, albeit the ace bowler has played 18 fewer matches than the all-rounder.
Therefore, if Pandya takes a wicket in Guyana, he will overtake Bumrah and move up to fourth place among his country's highest wicket-takers.
The wicket-takers' chart is led by Yuzvendra Chahal, who has scalped 93 wickets in 76 T20Is at an average of 24.40. The next two players on the list are Bhuvneshwar Kumar (90 wickets in 87 games) and Ravichandran Ashwin (72 wickets in 65 games), with Pandya nearly moving into third place.
