WI vs BAN | Mahmudullah hopes to find cameos from batters to win 3rd T20I

The Bangladesh skipper Mahmudullah has hoped to learn from the mistakes and do well in the third and final T20I fixture of the West Indies series slated to be played on July 7 (Thursday) at Guyana.

The first T20I game was washed out due to rain, while the second one witnessed the Caribbean team winning by 35 runs.

The 36-year-old reckoned that the team needs excellent cameos from a few of their batters, who can provide a quickfire contribution to help the team reach the scores of around 160 consistently.

"I think we need batters to play cameo knocks of 15 to 20 to 30 runs so that we consistently reach 160-170. If we can do that, we have the belief that our bowlers would be able to defend the score.

Mahmudullah feels there is no need for instructions to the players ahead of the game. Each one of them will have to be mentally ready to adapt to different match situations, which will certainly help in growing Bangladesh cricket.

"There is no real need for instructions. Before a game, as an individual and a team, we have to mentally prepare ourselves to adapt [to possible game scenarios], and that is how we would try to take our cricket forward.

Mahmudullah has faith in the team's bowling unit

In the second fixture, West Indies batters stamped their authority over the visitors and posted a total of 193 on the board.

However, Mahmudullah has reposed faith in the bowlers to come good in the final fixture by terming their performances as satisfactory in the last few series to restrict the opposition batters.

"I still consider our bowling attack to be really good. Sure, the pacers may not have performed as expected in the latest game, but if you look into the previous matches, you'd see the bowlers have managed to achieve the small targets and restricted the opponents' batters. I still have huge faith in my bowling attack," concluded Mahmudullah.
