Senior Indian all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja has confirmed that he will play in the upcoming Vijay Hazare Trophy 2025-26 for Saurashtra. Notably, his decision comes soon after star players Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma also made themselves available for the domestic one-day tournament and were named in the Delhi and Mumbai squads respectively.

According to officials from the Saurashtra Cricket Association (SCA), Jadeja has informed them that he plans to play two matches in the group stage. Both games are scheduled to be held in Alur, with Jadeja expected to feature on January 6 and January 8.

According to TOI report, an SCA official confirmed the development, saying that Jadeja has clearly communicated his availability for these two matches and that this is the current plan.

However, there is a chance this schedule could change. If Jadeja is selected for India’s upcoming ODI series against New Zealand, which begins on January 11, he may be asked to join the national team early.

The Indian squad is expected to assemble in Vadodara ahead of the series, and this could affect his participation in the Vijay Hazare Trophy. For now, though, Jadeja is likely to get match practice in Saurashtra’s final two group-stage games.

Jadeja’s willingness to play domestic cricket is seen as a positive sign, especially as he looks to stay in contention for the 2027 ODI World Cup. Like Kohli and Rohit, his focus on playing competitive matches shows his commitment to remaining fit and in form. Jadeja is also part of India’s squad for the 2025 Champions Trophy.

Recently, Jadeja missed India’s tour of Australia but returned for the home ODI series against South Africa. In that series, he scored 56 runs across two innings and picked up one wicket, showing glimpses of his all-round ability.

Notably, Saurashtra have been placed in Group D of the Vijay Hazare Trophy. They will begin their campaign against Odisha on December 24, followed by a match against Haryana on December 26. Both of these matches will also be played in Alur.
