On Saturday, July 27, India will face Sri Lanka for the first T20I at the Pallekelle Stadium. The new and fresh Indian side will be without Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma, who announced their retirement from T20Is after the T20 World Cup 2024 final.

However, the duo will return for the ODI series beginning on August 3. The squad picked by ODIs are yet to depart for the Island Nation. 

Recently, Rohit returned to India after his vacation following the success of the World Cup, while Virat continues to be in London with his wife and children. 

In the latest events, there is an update on the veterans' travel plans, and as per reports, Virat and Rohit will leave for Sri Lanka on July 29. 

The two have not played a single match since the T20 World Cup 2024 triumph and were reported to be given rest by BCCI for this Sri Lanka tour, but newly appointed head coach Gautam Gambhir wanted Virat and Rohit to be a part of the squad as there are few ODIs scheduled ahead of crucial Champions Trophy 2025.

Notably, there are still a lot of speculations over India's participation in the Champions Trophy as BCCI is unwilling to send India to Pakistan for security reasons.
