In a significant development, Gujarat Titans (GT) assistant coach Ashish Kapoor has confirmed that South African pacer Kagiso Rabada could make a comeback in the second half of the IPL 2025. Rabada, who was signed by GT for INR 10.75 crore at the IPL 2025 mega auction, returned home early in the campaign due to personal reasons.
Kagiso Rabada Could Return For Second Half Of IPL 2025
It is important to mention that despite his departure, the franchise has not named a replacement for the speedster, indicating a possible return later in the season. Ashish Kapoor revealed that Rabada left due to a family issue but could rejoin the squad if the matter is resolved in time.
Kulwant Khejroliya was drafted into the playing XI as the third pace option following Rabada’s unavailability.
We picked Dasun Shanaka as the replacement for Glenn Phillips, but I don’t know about the replacement for Kagiso Rabada, that’s news to me. We are just waiting for him, he might just return. There is a chance that he might join, but he has got some family problem, for which he has gone. Once he is sorted out with that in time, he’ll be back. We don’t know when, and we’re just waiting as everyone else," he added.
Rabada made his GT debut in the home fixture against his former team, PBKS, in Ahmedabad and also featured against MI. He picked up wicket in each of his two appearances dismissing Prabhsimran Singh against PBKS and Hardik Pandya against MI.

GT’s bowling attack has managed to perform well in Rabada’s absence, with the pace duo of Mohammed Siraj and Prasidh Krishna claiming a combined 20 wickets so far this season. Left-arm spinner Sai Kishore has also emerged as one of the top-performing spinners in the tournament.
