On this day, six years ago, KL Rahul delivered his career-best innings in the shortest format against West Indies at Lauderhill, Florida.

The game also involved the highest-ever T20I Match Aggregate total (489 runs) and the then-world record of 32 sixes in a single game.

Lewis, Charles power West Indies to a mammoth total

Invited to bat first, West Indies got off to flying start. Johnson Charles started the game proceedings by hitting 17 runs in the first over of Mohammed Shami. At the other end, Evin Lewis steered the team at a lavish rate as well to make full use of the fielding restrictions.

Lewis unleashed his wrath to hit 31 runs against Stuart Binny in a single over. In the 16th over, he was dismissed by Ravindra Jadeja for a knock 100 off 49 balls, comprising five boundaries and nine sixes.

In the end, West Indies ended their innings on 245/6 in their designated quota of 20 overs.

West Indies secure a thrilling victory

In response to a tough chase, India lost Ajinkya Rahane and Virat Kohli early. However, Rohit Sharma and Rahul kept the team in the hunt with their destructive intent, and scoring consistent boundaries.

The talented duo added 89 runs for the third wicket, before Sharma (62 off 28) failed to clear the fence off Kieron Pollard. Afterwards, MS Dhoni lent good support to the team with his six-hitting capabilities.

The skipper Carlos Brathwaite chose Dwayne Bravo to defend 8 off the final over. The champion bowler used his slower deliveries to good effect and helped the Caribbean team to a thrilling one-run victory.

Rahul remained unbeaten on 110 off 51, comprising 12 fours and five sixes, which is still his best T20I knock.
