Former BCCI chief selector and India cricketer Dilip Vengsarkar reckons that the Indian team will not miss Jasprit Bumrah in the bowling department as they have fantastic bench strength for Asia Cup 2022.

Ahead of Asia Cup, team India endured a huge blow as their premier fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah was ruled out with a back injury.

While many have expressed their concerns over Bumrah's unavailability for the multi-nation continental tournament and said it will be a huge loss to the defending champions, Vengsarkar opines that the Men in Blue will not be missing the services of Bumrah due to the luxury of options in the squad.

“I would say that India has fantastic bench strength because if you see at IPL, they have discovered a lot of pace bowlers. There are plenty of options now as far as fast bowling and good spinners are concerned. I think we won’t be missing anybody (like Jasprit Bumrah) for that matter," Dilip Vengsarkar told Gulf News.

The ex-Indian skipper has backed the young pace duo of Arshdeep Singh and Avesh Khan to come good in the coveted tournament.

“(Avesh Khan and Arshdeep Singh) They have tremendous potential because if you see the way they bowled in high-pressure IPL games, I think they were outstanding. I am glad that they have been included in the squad and I am sure that they will deliver.”
