In context to the recent terror attack in Pahalgam, Kashmir, security protocols have been significantly intensified for the ongoing IPL 2025. Among the most notable additions to the security is the deployment of 'Vajra Super Shot'.

It is an indigenous anti-drone system developed by Chennai-based defense technology firm Big Bang Boom Solutions Pvt. Ltd. (BBBS).

What Is Vajra Super Shot?

Vajra Super Shot is a lightweight, portable anti-drone weapon designed to detect and neutralize aerial threats in real-time. Capable of identifying drones within 4-kilometre radius, the device uses adaptive frequency technology to disrupt drone communication signals.

Its mobility and effectiveness in dynamic, crowded environments make it ideal for events like the IPL.

The Reason Behind The Initiative

The initiative aims to protect the airspace above IPL venues from unauthorised drone activity, ensuring the safety of both players and the thousands of fans attending matches across the country.

The deployment of Vajra Super Shot commenced during the match between Kolkata Knight Riders and Punjab Kings at Eden Gardens and will be in effect throughout the remainder of the tournament.

What Is The Importance Of Vajra Super Shot?

The IPL is one of the most-watched sporting events that draw massive in-stadium crowds. With high-profile players participating and matches taking place in cities across India, the stakes for ensuring security have never been higher.

The recent attack in Kashmir has further intensified the need for important measures against all forms of threats.

BBBS’s deployment of Vajra Super Shot demonstrates both technological prowess and  proactive approach to national and public safety.

It is important to note that the company emphasised that its system is designed to prevent any disruptions or incidents that could arise from the misuse of drone technology in crowded public spaces.
