The much-awaited ODI series between India and England is set to commence on February 6, 2025. It is important to mention that the 'Men in Blue' have dominated the recently concluded T20I series with a commanding 4-1 victory. India has showcased complete dominance and outplayed the 'Three Lions' in the shortest format of the game. However, England, known for their aggressive approach in the 50-over format, will be eager to bounce back. So ahead of the highly-anticipated ODI series, let's revisit the last time these two teams faced off in an ODI match. 

It is important to note that India and England faced each other last time during the Cricket World Cup 2023 on October 29 at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow.  

What Happened Last Time When India Faced England?

In their last ODI match , India outplayed England with a stellar 100-run win on a tricky two-paced wicket. Put into bat first, India faced early setbacks as their top order crumbled under pressure. Virat Kohli, Shubman Gill, and Shreyas Iyer failed to make an impact and departed for single-digit scores. 

However, skipper Rohit Sharma stood tall under pressure and played a masterful knock of 87 runs off 101 balls. His crucial 91-run partnership with KL Rahul helped India recover. Later, Suryakumar Yadav’s composed 49-run knock pushed India to a competitive total of 229 runs. For England, David Willey and Chris Woakes were the standout bowlers, keeping the Indian batters in check.   

In the chase, England began with promise, as their openers Jonny Bairstow and Dawid Malan, provided a steady start. However, the joy was short-lived as after they departed, Joe Root and Ben Stokes failed to provide momentum and departed for ducks. England found themselves unable to counter India's lethal pace attack. 

Mohammed Shami was India's star bowler, taking four crucial wickets. At the same time, Jasprit Bumrah provided vital support with three dismissals.
