The proposed West Indies tour of Pakistan in 2023 is set to be postponed if reports are to be trusted. Both teams were to play a short three-match T20I series in January 2023, which is likely being rescheduled for 2024.

According to ESPNcricinfo, both Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and Cricket West Indies (CWI) have reached a mutual agreement about the same.

This decision will allow players from both nations to play franchise cricket.

January 2023 sees an influx of leagues — International League T20 (ILT20), SA20 League, Big Bash League (BBL), and Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) — being organised in the same month.

West Indies traveled to Pakistan twice in the last ten months after their 2021 tour was split into two legs due to covid-19.  After playing the T20Is, an outbreak in the visiting camp saw the One-Day International (ODI) series take place in June of this year.

This decision will benefit West Indies' players who have already signed contracts in BBL, SA20, and ILT20.

However, Pakistani players were not given NOC by PCB for ILT20 and were not part of the SA20 auctions.

They could find themselves playing in the BPL with a small window opening up.
