Rishabh Pant has received a rousing welcome at The Gabba from none other than Team India colleague Sarfaraz Khan. The two cricketers recently arrived at the iconic Australian venue for India’s upcoming third Test match of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy series against the hosts.

Pant’s batting heroics at The Gabba back in January 2021 became one of the most significant chapters of India’s cricketing folklore, considering his 89* in the decisive innings of the match helped India breach Australia’s 32-year-old unbeaten fortress.

Rishabh Pant arrives at The Gabba for third Test

On Thursday, December 12, i.e., a couple of days prior to India’s all-important third BGT 2024 Test against Australia in Brisbane, Sarfaraz Khan took to his Instagram account and welcomed Indian wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant at the city’s Gabba venue.

Sharing a picture of Rishabh on his Instagram story, Sarfaraz wrote:

“Welcome to Gabba @RishabhPant”

It is worth noting that Rishabh Pant cracked an unbeaten 89 from 138 balls for an injury-ravaged Indian team against Australia at The Gabba back in January 2021. Pant’s herculean knock helped India chase down 329 on Day 5 to seal the 2020-21 Border-Gavaskar Trophy Test series by a 2-1 margin.

Currently on his third Test trip to Australia, the 27-year-old has made 87 runs in the first four innings of the ongoing series across Perth and Adelaide. With Rohit Sharma’s troops aiming to attain a lead in the series, it is imperative for Rishabh Pant to come up clutch for Team India in the impending third Test in Brisbane.

The much-awaited contest will be staged between December 14 and December 18. In hindsight, the series constitutes India’s final set of fixtures in the ongoing 2023-25 WTC cycle.
