On Tuesday (August 16), Hobart Hurricanes announced that Issy Wong will be their third and final international signing ahead of WBBL|08.

The 20-year-old seamer burst onto the scenes when she was called in by the Sydney Thunder as an injury replacement for Shabnim Ismail, last season.

In her first season in the WBBL, Wong scalped a total of nine wickets from 13 games played at an excellent economy rate of 7.28. She also showcased her talent with the bat by hitting an incredible 43 off just 17 deliveries against the Adelaide Strikers which included six sixes.

Wong excited for her stint with the Hurricanes

“I can’t wait to come back to Australia for the WBBL. I had a great time at the (Sydney) Thunder last season, but I’m looking forward to joining the Hurricanes this year. We had a really great match against them at the end of last season, and they’ve got some more really experienced players who have come on board since then, so I can’t wait to meet everyone and get stuck into learning as much as I can,"  said Issy Wong.

Wong will be joining fellow international signings Lizelle Lee and Mignon du Preez in the Hurricanes camp. Former Melbourne Stars captain Elyse Villani is also set to captain the Hurricanes this season.
