James Anderson backs the 'Bazball' approach ahead of the South Africa series
Anderson will be key to England's chances against South Africa
England fast bowling spearhead James Anderson has asserted that England will continue to play with the aggressive mindset even if it backfires.
Ever since the captain-coach duo of Ben Stokes and Brendon McCullum have taken over, England has been pioneering a revolution in Test cricket with their new aggressive brand of cricket. England’s approach called ‘Bazball’ has been doing wonders for them as they first clean swept New Zealand- 3-0 in the home series and then registered a win over India in the one-off rescheduled Test.
England will be looking to play the same brand of cricket in the upcoming series when they take on the World Test Championship (2021-23) table toppers South Africa in the three-match Test series.
Speaking ahead of the much-anticipated series, Anderson said that the team is loving the new approach adopted by Brendon McCullum and Ben Stokes.
"At the minute, Ben (Stokes) and Brendon McCullum have an idea of how they want us to play our cricket so we are buying into that and trying to play our way and we are absolutely loving doing it," said James Anderson ahead of the first Test at Lord's.
Team loving the new approach: Anderson
There have been questions raised on the longevity of the Bazball approach as many believe that it can backfire on the English team. Anderson also admits that there will be times England comes "unstuck" when playing their way but remains excited at what the group can achieve with the new style of play.
"There might be times when we do come unstuck and moments when things don't go our way, but I think the fact that we are buying into this and enjoying doing it is exciting for the whole group."
