A clean striker of the white ball, Elyse Vilani is a professional Australian cricket who plies her trade for the Melbourne Stars in the Women’s Big Bash League(WBBL). The Victorian opening batter arrived at the domestic scene for the Victoria u-19 squad and gradually progressed into the Australian U-23 squad.
Earmarked for greater success, Vilani made her international debut in a T20I fixture against the White Ferns on June 3rd, 2009. Soon after her debut, she was named in the Australian squad for the 2010 T20 World Cup and enjoyed great success, helping them lift the World T20 title. A hamstring injury saw the Victorian-born on the sidelines for the majority of 2011-12.
Villani bounced back and helped Australia win back the Ashes from England in 2015, before moving to Perth Scorchers for the inaugural edition of the WBBL. The 32-year old was a crucial part of the Aussies which went all the way to win their fourth World T20 title. She moved to Melbourne Stars prior to the fifth edition of the WBBL and currently, is one of the most experienced members in Team Green.
