The Match 9 of Lanka Premier League 2023 in Pallekele on Saturday served as the stage for an exceptional all-round masterclass as B-Love Kandy Skipper, Wanindu Hasaranga propelled his team to a thumping eight-wicket win.

Facing a challenging start to LPL 2023, Kandy suffered two early defeats. However, the tide has turned with the team now holding an impressive record of two wins in their last four matches. This resurgence has vaulted them to fourth position on the points table with four points to their name.
Despite a lukewarm start to his campaign in the initial matches, Hasaranga spectacularly hit his stride against the Kings. The captain's remarkable all-around performance earned him the coveted Player of the Match award.
Hasaranga played a pivotal role in confining the Kings to a measly total of 117. His bowling figures read an impressive 4-0-9-3, marking a milestone in his career with the dismissal of Maheesh Theekshana, his 200th T20 wicket. Furthermore, he showed his brilliant fielding skills with two notable catches of Priyamal Perera and Thisara Perera.
Equally lethal with the bat, the bowling all-rounder produced a whirlwind knock at No.3, scoring a blistering 52 from just 22 balls. His innings which included five boundaries and three sixes ensured Kandy's successful chase with seven overs to spare.
A significant contribution also came from Fakhar Zaman, who added 42 from 39 deliveries to the tally, and Dinesh Chandimal, who scored a handy 22 off 16 balls with three boundaries.
As for their next game, Kandy will take on the Galle Titans on Tuesday, August 8 in Pallekele.
