A funny moment between Virat Kohli and Axar Patel during India’s Champions Trophy match against New Zealand is making rounds on social media. During the Group A match in Dubai on Sunday, New Zealand were chasing 250 runs. Their star batter, Kane Williamson, was holding one end strong, keeping New Zealand in the game despite India picking up wickets regularly. 

Axar Patel Gets Kane Willamson's Wicket

Just when it looked like Williamson could turn the match in his team’s favour, Axar Patel dismissed him for 81 runs, putting New Zealand in deep trouble.

As the Indian players gathered to celebrate Axar’s crucial wicket, Kohli ran up to him and jokingly touched his feet as a sign of respect. Axar quickly stopped him, and both burst into laughter, creating a light-hearted moment on the field.


India Seal A Clinical Win Against New Zealand 

Varun Chakravarthy was the star of the match, taking five wickets (5 for 42) as India defeated New Zealand by 44 runs. With this win, India topped Group A and secured a semi-final spot against Australia, who finished second in Group B.

New Zealand, chasing 250, were bowled out for 205. Apart from Chakravarthy’s heroics, Kuldeep Yadav took two wickets, while Hardik Pandya, Axar Patel, and Ravindra Jadeja grabbed one each.

Earlier in the match, India struggled after losing quick wickets, with Rohit Sharma, Shubman Gill, and Virat Kohli getting dismissed early, leaving the team at just 30 runs. However, Shreyas Iyer’s crucial 79-run knock, supported by Hardik Pandya’s 45 and Axar Patel’s 42, helped India reach 249/9. Matt Henry was New Zealand’s standout bowler, taking five wickets for 42 runs.

With this win, India will now face Australia in the semi-final on Tuesday in Dubai.
