Proficient Proteas squeeze England to seal the T20I series

Riding on the clinical all-round performances, South Africa secured a sensational victory by 90 runs in the third T20I against England to win the series 2-1 at Southampton. Furthermore, it was also their first series victory against England in the shortest format after 2016.

Invited to bat first, South Africa lost Quinton de Kock (0) to David Willey. However, the confidence of Reeza Hendricks and Rilee Rossouw helped the team to accumulate 53 runs in the powerplay overs. After the lifting of fielding restrictions, Rossouw (31) was bowled by an absolute beauty by Moeen Ali.

Aiden Markram, who made his first appearance in the T20I series was flawless to steer the team in the middle overs. On the other end, Hendricks continued his brilliant form to display his wide range of shots. The duo added 87 runs for the third wicket before Hendricks departed for 70 off 50 deliveries.

Then, Miller, who was playing in his 100th T20I played a productive inning of 22 off 9 balls, which aided South Africa to finish on 191/5.

Tabraiz Shamsi produces his best to crush English batters

Chasing a tough score, Jason Roy and Jos Buttler started positively. However, the introduction of Keshav Maharaj into the attack paid immediate dividends for Proteas, as he sent back Jos Buttler (14) into the hut. The likes of Jason Roy (17) and Dawid Malan (7) were dismissed cheaply as well.

Markram brought curtains to Ali's innings, courtesy a sensational catch by Tristan Stubbs. Afterwards, Tabraiz Shamsi ran down the English batting line-up in his glorious spell. The 32-year-old finished with career-best 5/24 off four overs.

Jonny Bairstow was a witness to the miserable evening for Three lions, while left stranded at the non-striker's end. He was the last to fall for 27 off 30, and England's innings wrapped up for 101.

Brief Scores:

South Africa- 191/5 (20)
Reeza Hendricks 70 (50), Aiden Markram 51 (36);

England- 101/10 (16.4)
