In a surprising revelation, England's white-ball stalwart and captain, Jos Buttler, has chosen India's charismatic skipper, Rohit Sharma, as his favourite cricketer, bypassing heavyweights like Virat Kohli, his own compatriot Ben Stokes, and Pakistan skipper Babar Azam.

Jos Buttler picked Rohit Sharma as his favourite modern-day cricketer

The linchpin of England's white-ball cricket, Buttler has become a household name across the globe. He was instrumental in securing England's maiden ODI World Cup title in 2019.

Then, taking up the mantle of leadership, he guided the English side to T20 World Cup glory last year. With such accolades, when a cricketer of Buttler's stature expresses admiration, the cricketing fraternity takes notice.

Having adorned the England jersey in 57 Tests, 170 ODIs, and 109 T20Is, Buttler's experience and achievements in the sport are unparalleled. While many might have expected him to pick one of the more frequently celebrated giants of the game, Buttler's choice sheds light on the respect and admiration Rohit commands amongst his peers.

Rohit, aged 36, is at the helm of the Indian side across all three formats despite not having played a T20I match since November 10, 2022. His recent feat of becoming the second fastest to score 10,000 runs in ODIs along with being the second-leading run-scorer in T20Is, further cements his legendary status.

The Indian skipper's stellar ODI record underscores his brilliance in the format. In 251 matches, he's amassed 10,112 runs at an average of 48.85, a strike rate of 90.52, a top score of 264, and has 30 centuries and 52 half-centuries to his name.
