Shubman Gill was spotted grinding out in an intense nets training session alongside the rest of his Indian colleagues in Sydney ahead of the much-awaited SCG Test. It is worth noting that the charismatic top-order batter was dropped from the Indian team for the MCG Test last week, and the 25-year-old might reportedly return to the setup for the all-important series decider.
On January 2, i.e., a day prior to the launch of the SCG Test, Shubman Gill took to the nets and had a crack with the bat alongside Virat Kohli and others. Notably, the dashing Indian batter was also accompanied by his parents right outside the nets.

Shubman Gill’s parents, Lakhwinder Singh and Keart Gill were in attendance during the cricketer’s nets training session in Sydney. In an exclusive footage captured by Cricket. One, the two senior members of the Gill family were spotted watching young Shubman from the sidelines.
While Shubman Gill was ruled out of the first Test of the series against Australia at Perth, he was included in the playing XI for the pink-ball affair in Adelaide in early December. Batting at number three, the youngster charted scores of just 31 and 28 across both innings as Team India crashed to a huge 10-wicket defeat. Even in the subsequent third Test at the Gabba in Brisbane, Gill was bested by a raging Mitchell Starc before constant rains at the venue ensued a draw.
The 25-year-old was eventually dropped from India’s playing XI for the fourth Test of the series at the MCG. As per reports, Shubman Gill might well make a cut into the XI for the all-important fifth Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 Test match at the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG).
With series and a place in the WTC 2025 final on the line, Team India needs to win the impending decider, scheduled to launch from January 3 onwards.
