A disturbing video has emerged on the internet showcasing an unfortunate incident involving Bangladesh's cricket captain, Shakib Al Hasan. The footage captures an enraged group of Bangladeshi fans physically assaulting Shakib.

The incident appears to have taken place during Shakib's visit to a jewellery store in Bangladesh, where fans ambushed him, pulling at his collar and throwing him to the ground.

It is understood that it is an old video from March this year, however; it has been resurfaced after the Shakib Al Hasan-led team's horrible run in India, where they were the first team to get knocked out.

Bangladesh's World Cup campaign hit rock bottom with six consecutive losses in seven games, making them the first team to be eliminated from the tournament. This unforeseen downfall shocked fans, especially considering Bangladesh's third-place standing in the ICC Super League points table before the competition began. The team's struggles were exacerbated by the pre-tournament decision of star player Tamim Iqbal to withdraw, citing a lack of interest in participating in what he called a "dirty game."

Shakib Al Hasan, who had adamantly refused to lead the team after the World Cup, found himself in the hot seat amid the team's poor performance. His personal struggles with the bat, scoring only 104 runs at an average of 17.33, were a far cry from his stellar performance in the previous edition.

Despite seeking guidance from his childhood mentor in Dhaka, the cricket board curtailed his practice sessions prematurely, deeming his actions embarrassing for the team. As Shakib grappled with both form and leadership challenges, his on-field presence waned. Even after recovering from an injury, Shakib failed to inspire the team, leaving many to question his effectiveness as a leader.

The disturbing incident depicted in the resurfaced video underscores the depth of disappointment and frustration among Bangladeshi fans, who expected more from their team and its once-revered captain. However, the actions by the fans are disturbing and should be condemned. The fallout from this World Cup debacle is sure to cast a long shadow over Bangladesh cricket, prompting introspection and calls for change.
