Yashasvi Jaiswal Dropped, Ishan Kishan In; Here's India's Playing XI For 1st T20I Vs Australia

In a significant development, India named a robust 15-member squad for the upcoming five-match T20I series against Australia on home soil. While most of the senior players have been rested, swashbuckling batter Suryakumar Yadav is all set to lead a relatively young side.

Ruturaj Gaikwad has been named the vice-captain and will open the batting alongside one of Yashasvi Jaiswal and Ishan Kishan. However, India will likely prefer Kishan over Jaiswal initially, as he can keep the wickets, allowing them to fit Shivam Dube to play the seam-bowling all-rounder's role in the absence of Hardik Pandya.

Skipper Suryakumar Yadav will spearhead the middle order alongside his Mumbai Indians teammate Tilak Varma, who was impressive in the five-match series in the Caribbean.

Explosive batter Rinku Singh, who performed admirably in the Ireland series as well as the Asian Games, will bat down the order as a finisher.

Axar Patel, who was ruled out of the ODI World Cup due to injury, will make it into the XI ahead of Washington Sundar as the spin all-rounder.

In Jasprit Bumrah's absence, left-arm seamer Arshdeep Singh will spearhead the pace bowling department alongside Prasidh Krishna and Mukesh Kumar. Meanwhile, Ravi Bishnoi will be the solitary leg spinner in the Indian lineup.

Unless it's a dry and spin-friendly track, we don't see India going with three spinners benching one of their pace bowlers.
