At what could be the end of the road for Yuzvendra Chahal, Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) selectors have excluded the leg-spinner from the Indian squad for the upcoming five-match T20I series against Australia.

On Monday evening, BCCI named a 15-member squad for the T20I series against Australia, which will be captained by Surya Kumar Yadav and will see young Ravi Bishnoi as the lone leg-spinner. Washington Sundar is the other spinner in the squad but bowls off-spin.

Bishnoi and Sundar played for India in the Asian Games 2022, where the Ruturaj Gaikwad-led side won the Gold Medal.

Chahal, who faced a similar snub from BCCI for Asia Cup and World Cup 2023 Indian squads, took to the social media site 'X' and shared a cryptic post, which featured a smiling emoji, " 😊".

Chahal, 33, last played international cricket against West Indies, during India's tour of the Caribbean in August, appearing in T20Is.

The leg-spinner is India's leading wicket-taker in T20I cricket, having taken 96 wickets in 80 matches, with two four-fors and one five-wicket haul between 2016 and 2023.

Pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar, who is also not included in the scheme of things for T20Is against Australia, is second with 90.
