After opting to bat first against Middlesex on Thursday, Sussex found themselves in a tight spot at 55-3 in the 8th over. It was at this critical stage that Shadab Khan, the star Pakistan all-rounder, joined his skipper, Ravi Bopara, on the field and helped his side post a commanding total on the board.
The duo exhibited exceptional batting skills, orchestrating a crucial partnership to pull their team out of a precarious position. Batting together, they added 91 runs in just 47 deliveries. Of the two, Shadab played a quickfire knock, smashing a fifty in just 24 balls.

Shadab's innings came to an end when he was caught by Martin Andersson off the bowling of Ryan Higgins. Thanks to his attacking approach at the crease and the crucial partnership with Ravi Bopara, Sussex successfully amassed a challenging total of 181/8 within the stipulated 20 overs.
While Shadab couldn't get a wicket in his four-over spell, he showed excellent control by conceding just 30 runs at an economy rate of 7.50. Sussex went on defend the total and secured a narrow four-run victory, with Shadab Khan emerging as the team's second-most economical bowler.
