Rohit Sharma triggered hysteria at the pre-match press conference ahead of the clash against Sri Lanka at the ICC World Cup 2023 when asked to speak of legendary Sachin Tendulkar's grand statue unveiled at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Wednesday (November 1).

Bringing his inimitable Mumbaiya humour to the fore, Rohit got the present journalists bursting out in laughter when he spoke in response to a query seeking his views about the statue of the 'Master Blaster' and his cricketing idol at his home ground.

The Indian captain and experienced opener revealed he didn't get the chance to see the statue before coming for the press conference since the media manager scheduled the press briefing just after India's practice session at the Wankhede.

Rohit didn't shy away from complaining to the BCCI media manager Moulin Parikh on the mic, creating a funny scene during the press interaction with his signature style, linguistic limitation and humour, with the clip of the incident going viral on social media.

Rohit's Funny Response On Tendulkar's Statue

The statue unveiled higher up in the stands at the mid-wicket region from the center wicket has the maestro warming the fans with that perfect stride and lofted on-drive against the seamers.

The statue was revealed to the cricket world at a ceremony attended by Tendulkar himself in the presence of BCCI secretary Jay Shah and other board officials on Wednesday (November 1).

It was also the day Team India had a center-wicket training session, focusing rigorously on sharpening their skills and fitness standards for the next World Cup 2023 clash against Sri Lanka.

Since the press briefing was scheduled immediately after the training session, Rohit sarcastically said the media manager delayed the presser so much he didn't even get the chance to watch the Tendulkar statue closely and funnily complained about Parikh in front of all the journalists present for the interaction in Mumbai.
