Netherlands' strong campaign at the Qualifiers in Zimbabwe has helped them secure tickets for the 2023 World Cup later this year. They defeated Scotland in their must-win game, set a date with Sri Lanka at the final, and claimed the available ‘Qualifiers 1’ slot in the schedule of the main event in India.
Unlike the top eight sides to feature at the 2023 World Cup, Netherlands team was made to earn its rights for tournament participation. They did so with much finesse, as they defeated West Indies in a super-over thriller, came close to upsetting Sri Lanka, and thumped likely-contenders Scotland in a virtual qualifying shootout.
Netherlands upcoming appearance will be there first in a World Cup since the 2011 event, which interestingly, also took place in India.
Netherlands' Itinerary
Going ahead, Netherlands will begin its 2023 World Cup campaign with a match against Pakistan in Hyderabad. They will extend their stay there for a few more days as they are scheduled to face New Zealand at the same venue.
The nine Netherlands’ fixtures are spread across seven different stadiums, with Hyderabad and Lucknow hosting the team twice each. As the Dutchmen brace themselves for a trip to India, here is a look at their full schedule along with other tournament details.
