Indian team's preparations for their upcoming tour of West Indies have taken a heartwarming turn, as the players showcased their humility and generosity during a practice session in Barbados.
Team India's humility shines through in Barbados
Ahead of the highly anticipated two-match Test series, the Indian cricketers took a moment to connect with local players and fans, displaying a great sense of camaraderie.
In a video shared by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), prominent players including Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, Mohammed Siraj, Ravichandran Ashwin, Ishan Kishan Kishan, and Ruturaj Gaikwad along with batting coach Vikram Rathour were seen happily engaging with local cricketers and fans, signing autographs, and posing for selfies.
This humble gesture symbolized the players' genuine appreciation for the support they received during their two-day practice match. Notably, Ashwin graciously shared valuable tips on the art of off-spin with a talented Barbados player which was revealed by the young spinner himself in the video.
Adding a touch of benignity to the occasion, Siraj went a step further by presenting a bat and a pair of shoes to two local players. The fast bowler also expressed his gratitude towards the Barbados community for their assistance during the practice game.
Meanwhile, the upcoming Test series against West Indies holds immense significance for Team India as it marks the commencement of the new World Test Championship (WTC) cycle. With the inclusion of promising players such as Yashasvi Jaiswal, Ruturaj Gaikwad, and Mukesh Kumar, the Indian squad presents a slightly revamped composition.
In the two-day practice game, Rohit and Jaiswal opened together and scored impressive half-centuries. Interestingly, Jaiswal's partnership with Rohit at the top in the practice game has sparked conjecture about his possible inclusion in the Test squad, potentially replacing Shubman Gill.
On the other hand, the experienced duo of Virat Kohli and Ajinkya Rahane failed to make it count, with the former being dismissed to a wide delivery yet again, and the latter falling for a solitary run.
As far as bowling is concerned, considering the prevailing conditions in Dominica, it is anticipated that the Indian team will opt for a playing XI that includes the spin duo of Ravindra Jadeja and Ashwin.
Additionally, the team management is likely to field a three-pronged pace attack comprising Siraj, Shardul Thakur, and Jaydev Unadkat, as they take on the Windies in the opening Test match at Windsor Park, Roseau, Dominica on July 12.
