Indian batsman Suryakumar Yadav took to nets a day prior to his side’s World Cup 2023 fixture against New Zealand. As it turned out, the cricketer sustained a wrist injury during the session after he was hit by India’s throwdown specialist Raghu.

The injury prompted the star batter to walk off and he did not take further part in the net’s session. Yadav was seen in serious discomfort and was subsequently taken under the observation of the BCCI medical team.

Suryakumar Yadav injury update revealed

Suryakumar Yadav coped a bullet throw on his wrist from India’s throwdown specialist which subsequently prompted him to walk off the net’s session writhing in serious pain. Upon being taken under the BCCI medical team, the cricketer applied ice packs in a bid for a quick recovery.

As per latest reports, Yadav is fine and there is no requirement of X-Ray. Moreover, the white-ball star might well turn up for India in their playing XI against New Zealand on October 22.

Suryakumar Yadav, despite being selected in the expanded Indian World Cup 2023 squad, is yet to feature in a single game thus far into the tournament. However, following Hardik Pandya’s injury against Bangladesh, the Mumbai-based batsman has been tipped to make his World Cup debut with a match against the ‘Black Caps’.

Ishan Kishan, one of the original contenders as Pandya’s replacement in the playing XI, was bitten by a honeybee earlier on the same day during a practice session.

Team India, yet to lose a single match in the ongoing 2023 World Cup, will be aiming to sustain their winning streak against New Zealand when the two sides square off on October 22. The much-awaited contest is slated to be hosted by the HPCA Stadium in Dharamsala.
