As the clock ticks closer to the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, Team India has been sweating it out behind closed doors, blending intense training with moments of camaraderie. A recently released behind-the-scenes (BTS) video offers fans a rare peek into their preparation.
However, this prep also focused on the unsung heroes who play a crucial role in strengthening the team's physical and mental wellness, the support staff and coaches.
Team India Takes A Back Seat Of Champions Trophy Final Clash
The video opens with the squad’s aquatic training regimen, where players are seen powering through pool sessions. The buoyancy of water serves as a low-impact medium to build endurance and agility, critical for the gruelling tournament ahead.
Virat Kohli, one of the architects of India's win against Australia, was seen enjoying the pool session alongside Mohammed Shami. Amid the grind, the BTS clip captures lighter moments as players unwind with recreational games with Rohit Sharma and Hardik Pandya sharing laughs.
Physiotherapy Takes Centre Stage
A significant portion of the footage highlights the unsung backbone of India’s campaign: the physiotherapy unit. Pacer Harshit Rana and wrist-spinner Kuldeep Yadav are seen undergoing rigorous massage sessions.
Physiotherapists were seen working meticulously on their shoulder, knee and ankle joints. Senior physio Kamlesh Jain explains, “Our bigger role is to try and prevent niggles and injuries and minimise the risk.”
Team India's Final hurdle
Nevertheless, after weeks of strategic planning and sweat, Team India’s journey culminates in a high-stakes clash against New Zealand in the tournament final on March 9 at Dubai International Stadium.
The Black Caps, known for their nerve in crunch moments kicked South Africa out of the tournament in semi-final 2 and will test India’s revamped batting order under Gautam Gambhir. With both teams unbeaten in the group stage, expectations are sky-high for a thriller under the Dubai lights.
