Mumbai Indians’ quest for a strong IPL 2025 start hit a roadblock with a defeat against Chennai Super Kings at Chepauk. Batting struggles on a sluggish track left the Suryakumar Yadav-led side short of a competitive total, despite promising spells from debutant Vignesh Puthur and Deepak Chahar.
Nevertheless, desperate Mumbai now looks forward to other measures to bounce back stronger. The team now heads to Jamnagar for a brief team-bonding break before regrouping in Ahmedabad for their clash against Gujarat Titans.
Mumbai Camp Unwinds In Jamnagar!
Hardik Pandya’s absence due to a previous season’s penalty compounded Mumbai’s woes, though the skipper trained with the squad ahead of the next fixture. With key players like Rohit Sharma and Suryakumar Yadav failing to fire, MI will rely on returning stars and fresh faces to bounce back.
The team heading to Jamnagar was captured by Mumbai Indians official social media handle and the video saw the players unwinding after landing in Jamnagar.
Pandya travelled with the team and hit some lusty blows in the nets but his absence was felt during the opener. Stand-in captain Suryakumar Yadav, who wasn't able to make a substantial contribution with the bat faced criticism for the team’s flat performance.
MI Coach On Team's Resilience And Bumrah Update
Rohit Sharma’s early dismissal for a duck compounded Mumbai’s struggles, though bowling coach Paras Mhambrey praised debutant Vignesh Puthur’s composure. "He handled it superbly," Mhambrey said of the 24-year-old chinaman, who claimed three wickets under pressure.
On Bumrah’s recovery, Mhambrey remained cautious saying there has been no date of return yet for the star quick.
"There is no return date for Jasprit Bumrah yet... he is making good progress. The MI management is in constant touch with the medical team overseeing his rehabilitation at the BCCI Centre of Excellence."
With Pandya’s return imminent and team-bonding activities in Jamnagar aimed at rebuilding morale, Mumbai Indians will look to address their batting frailties and refine strategies ahead of the Titans clash.
