Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) are already making headlines ahead of IPL 2025 but this time, it’s not about their big-money signings or pre-season training intensity, it’s about a freak run-out that has gone viral.

During KKR’s pre-tournament training camp in Mumbai, a moment of pure bad luck and comedy unfolded. In a video that has set social media buzzing, Rinku Singh ‘ran out’ Venkatesh Iyer in the most bizarre fashion without even trying.

The drama unfolded when Venkatesh Iyer smashed a full-length ball from Vaibhav Arora towards deep mid-wicket. A few moments later, Rinku Singh drilled the very next ball straight down the ground. Vaibhav Arora instinctively stuck out his left hand, deflecting the ball onto the non-striker’s stumps.

And guess what? Venkatesh Iyer, caught in his follow-through, had casually walked a few steps ahead. The ball clipped the stumps before he could react and left him completely bamboozled.

KKR’s official X handle posted the clip, teasing fans with the caption: “Wait for the twist.”


Fans couldn’t get enough of the hilarious yet unfortunate dismissal as some called it unlucky while others found it funny.

KKR’s Camp Is In Full Swing

This preliminary camp, which runs from February 21 to 28, is KKR’s way of bringing together their domestic core before shifting to Kolkata for the final pre-IPL training phase.

Among the nine domestic players in the camp are big-money buys like Venkatesh Iyer, who was retained for a whopping INR 23.75 crore, and Rinku Singh, held onto for INR 13 crore. Also present are Ramandeep Singh, Vaibhav Arora, Mayank Markande, and promising youngster Angkrish Raghuvanshi.

KKR’s Captaincy Puzzle Still Unsolved

With Shreyas Iyer no longer at the helm, KKR are yet to announce their new captain for IPL 2025. Both Venkatesh Iyer and Rinku Singh are strong contenders but the management has kept their cards close to their chest.
