After having both their warm-up washed out, Team India have embarked on their World Cup 2023 journey.

With Virat Kohli and Shyeras Iyer joining the Indian squad at Thiruvananthapuram early Wednesday morning, the 15-member squad along with support staff have departed for Chennai, where they will play their World Cup opener against Australia.

As per Indian traditions, sweet is offered as a means of good luck and best wishes and the hotel staff at Trivandrum did the same for Team India's success in the ten-nation tournament.

While leaving the hotel premises, all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja was seen cutting a cake, as the Indian contingent boarded the bus. Jadeja could be offering the first bite to Rahul Dravid and Ravichandran Ashwin, both of whom politely refused.

Coach Dravid also greeted hotel staff, while players such as Ashwin, Hardik Pandya, and Virat Kohli were seen getting onto the bus.

Under captain Rohit Sharma, India will face a tough challenger as they will deal with the pressures of playing in India, and also be on the go almost every day, with hosts playing matches across all nine venues.

Sharma and Co. will take on five-time champions Australia at Chepauk in Chennai, and will meet arch-rivals Pakistan on October 14 at the iconic Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
