In the ongoing County Championship, Cheteshwar Pujara has joined Sussex again after having a successful last season where he scored 659 runs at an average of 61.28. In a video posted by the official account of County Championship, Pujara is seen in a comical mix-up and proceeds to get run out.

Batting at 84 against Gloucestershire, the Indian is seen punching the ball through the covers on Dominic Goodman's bowling. Substitute fielder, Jack Taylor throws the ball from the deep while Pujara has already run a couple with John Simpson. However, they both find themselves standing almost beside each other in a 'yes-no' situation and the 36-year-old gets stranded in the middle and falls short while trying to go back to the crease.

Pujara fell short of another County century on day 3 of the game and finished his knock at 86(148). In response to Gloucestershire's 417, Sussex ended the innings with a 62-run lead, thanks to the other contributions from Simpson who scored 78(174), Danny Lamb 83(116), Tom Alsop 84(156) and Tom Clark 53(124).

The Saurashtra stalwart last played a Test match for India in the 2023 World Test Championship final on the back of a good County stint. He also ended the recently concluded Ranji Trophy season with 829 runs at an average of 69,08 and looks quite determined to give everything in this County season to probably get one final call back to the national team.

Cheteshwar Pujara is expected to play the first seven County Championship games in this third stint with Sussex.
