In a hilarious yet relatable mix-up, Team India’s throwdown specialist Raghavendra Dwivedi, fondly called ‘Raghu’, found himself in an unexpected showdown with Nagpur police outside the team hotel. A viral video captured the moment when security personnel, failing to recognize the support staff veteran, blocked his entry.
While Raghu has been with the team since 2011 and his role in sharpening India’s batting giants like Kohli and Rohit is no secret, this hilarious incident proved even the unsung heroes face their share of drama off the pitch.
Nagpur Police Gets Embarrassed Upon Stopping India's Throwdown Specialist
The video that went viral on social media saw Raghu reaching for Radisson Blue hotel, where team India is staying, however, two cops of Nagpur Police stopped him mistaking him as an intruder. For the moment, Raghu himself also had a brain-fade moment as to why he wasn't let in by the police.
As media personnel and bystanders shouted, “Arey abhi gadi se utra hai wo,” the police personnel reconfirmed with senior officials to let Raghu enter the premises. Though fazed early, Raghu simply smiled through the chaos before being waved in.
India Gears Up For ODI and Champions Trophy Prep
Fresh off a dominant 4-1 T20I series win, Team India shifts focus to a high-octane ODI clash against England starting February 6 in Nagpur. But this isn’t just another series—it’s the first step toward the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy, and all eyes are on Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli to set the tone.
Rohit, fresh from bagging honours at the BCCI Naman Awards, and Kohli, buzzing from his Ranji Trophy comeback, arrived in Nagpur on Monday. Kohli was also seen sizzling things up in a net session as he flaunted his ripped physique amidst an intense regime. In fact, the whole of the squad is upping their level to stand up against the English attack in the tri-match series.
Moreover, beyond bragging rights, this series is a litmus test for India’s ODI strategy. This series is about fine-tuning combinations and building momentum. Besides ODI veterans, the squad also features T20I stalwarts like Hardik Pandya and Axar Patel, hinting at a dynamic, hybrid approach as the Men in Blue are all geared up for their first Champions Trophy encounter on February 20.
