In what seems like an improbable scenario, the USA will host India in the all-important Group-A match of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup in New York on June 12.

For many Indian players, it may appear to be just another World Cup game, but for the USA players, it’s a chance to validate their victory over Pakistan and show it wasn't a one-time feat.

For numerous Indian-origin players on the US team, it will be a reunion with old friends, and for someone like Corey Anderson, it means competing against familiar foes. The USA team largely comprises players with roots in India and Pakistan.

When USA’s Harmeet Singh made his First-Class debut for Mumbai, Indian skipper Rohit Sharma was his teammate.

Rohit's friendship with Harmeet dates back to their school days; in fact, the current Indian captain was a senior to Harmeet at Swami Vivekanand School in Borivali. Additionally, pace sensation Saurabh Netravalkar played alongside KL Rahul at the 2010 U19 Men’s World Cup.

Milind Kumar once shared the dressing room with Virat Kohli in the IPL, and Nosthush Kenjige played with Ambati Rayudu for MI Emirates in the ILT20.

Ahead of the game, USA players shared their thoughts about playing against India and reuniting with former teammates in a video released by Star Sports.

Harmeet, Saurabh, Kenjige, and Milind did not reach the highest levels of Indian cricket and moved to greener pastures in the USA. For this group, and several others in the USA squad, a shot at redemption is here.

The USA team is on a roll. They started their campaign with a win over neighbours Canada, before shocking the world with a Super Over victory over Pakistan. The players are now focused on their biggest challenge: upsetting India and stunning the world again.
