The Indian women's cricket team scripted history on December 24 by securing their maiden Test cricket victory over Australia women, putting on a stellar all-around display.

In the last stretch, India brought their A-game, tearing through the Aussies' lineup, grabbing the last five wickets for just 28 runs. Then, they chased down 75 runs to register a comprehensive eight-wicket victory.

Australia's batting faltered in both innings, reaching totals of 219 and 261 runs. Sneh Rana, the off-spinner, dominated with 7 wickets, while fast bowler Pooja Vastrakar added 5 wickets to her impressive performance.

India found themselves in a commanding position after their batting in the first innings, with a total of 406 runs. Smriti Mandhana, Jemimah Rodrigues, Richa Ghosh, and Deepti Sharma's half-centuries were instrumental in building this advantage.

Meanwhile, with captain Harmanpreet Kaur leading the way, the entire Indian women's team walked around the Wankhede Stadium, acknowledging the support of the crowd that had gathered to witness this historic feat.
