Watch | Deepak Chahar returns back to action after five months

On Tuesday (July 19), India's premier swing bowler, Deepak Chahar, updated the cricket fraternity about him regaining full fitness and bowling after five months.

Chahar had sustained a hamstring injury during the home series against West Indies in February this year. Furthermore, the 29-year-old pacer suffered another setback in the form of a back injury during his rehabilitation at National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru.

These injury concerns ruled Chahar out of the 2022 edition of Indian Premier League (IPL), the limited-overs series against England and West Indies

Felt equally happy when I made my debut: Deepak Chahar

Chahar took to his Instagram handle to post a video of him bowling in a club match. "Bowled in a match after more than 5 months felt equally happy when I made my debut #return #soon #bleedblue," read the caption on Chahar’s recent Instagram post.

In the video, the talented seamer was seen swinging the balls both ways. His ability to deceive with deliveries around the corridor of uncertainty was also on show.

Chahar was hoping to be fit soon

Earlier in June, the fast bowler revealed that he is still on his path to recovery, and it may take up to four-five months to regain full fitness. Chahar had already hinted at his return in club-level matches to gauge fitness.

The right-arm seamer was also hopeful of a call-up for the West Indies series

"It's a step-by-step process as far as recovery is concerned. Once I am match fit, I will need to play some club-level games to check my fitness. (On being fit for the West Indies series). I can't say that, but I will definitely try and get fit by then, Let's see," Chahar told PTI in June.

Nevertheless, a fully fit Chahar will surely boost the bowling armoury of the Indian team for the T20 World Cup 2022
