On July 10, Arshdeep Singh received a guard of honor as he was making his way to the Jaswant Rai Cricket Academy in Punjab. Surrounded by numerous emerging talents at the ground, the 25-year-old embraced the occasion with much elation while walking towards the turf.

Arshdeep Singh finished the 2024 T20 World Cup as the joint-highest wicket-taker alongside Afghanistan’s Fazalhaq Farooqi. The speedster claimed 17 wickets at an average of 12.64, with a match-winning four-wicket haul against USA to his name. Arshdeep also delivered match-defining three-fers against Afghanistan and Australia, and bowled a tight last over against arch-rivals Pakistan.

In the final against South Africa at Barbados, the 25-year-old took the wickets of Aiden Markram and Quinton de Kock to claim figures of 2-20.

Going ahead, Arshdeep Singh will be expected to feature in India’s squad for their upcoming white-ball tour of Sri Lanka in July and August.
