Rahmanullah Gurbaz set the stage on fire on Thursday (August 24) in the second ODI of the three-match series between Afghanistan and Pakistan. The 21-year-old swashbuckling wicket-keeper batsman scored a run-a-ball 151, laced with 14 fours and three sixes, albeit it all went in vain courtesy of Naseem Shah’s heroics.

Gurbaz was again in the spotlight for the third and final ODI between the two sides on Saturday (August 26). During the 39th over of Pakistan’s innings, Saud Shakeel tried to nudge Mohammad Nabi towards leg side for a quick single. However, Mohammad Rizwan, who was the non-strikers’ end, was not interested in taking a run.

Gurbaz saw the opportunity coming, and he took little time to pick the ball up and throw it at the strikers’ end. There was no one who could collect the ball, but Gurbaz’s throw was so accurate that it broke the stumps when Shakeel was nowhere near the crease.

Unsurprisingly, Gurbaz was delighted after inflicting a run-out from nowhere, and his Afghanistani teammates were quick to congratulate him after fantastic effort.

At the time of writing, Pakistan have reached 221/6 in 45.2 overs, with Agha Salman and Mohammad Nawaz in the middle.
