Team India’s unbeaten World Cup 2023 juggernaut was halted by Australia in the final at Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium. Mohammed Shami, one of the team’s pivotal members behind their pre-final success, failed to make much of an impact with the ball on the big day following his early strike.

A day after India’s humiliating title defeat to Australia, Shami’s estranged wife, Hasin Jahan, shared a cryptic post on her Instagram account. The post, featuring background narration from a Bollywood movie, has been perceived by fans as either a sly dig at her ex-husband or an uplifting message for the Indian team as a whole.

Hasin Jahan’s messages puzzles Indian fans

Hasin Jahan, estranged wife of Indian speedster Mohammed Shami, took to her Instagram account and shared a cryptic message a day after India’s World Cup 2023 final defeat to Australia. The audio of her reel asserts:

“Akhir main achhe log jaroor jitte hai” (In the end, victory belongs to the good-hearted)

Since Hasin Jahan did not state the context behind her message, several fans perceived the same as a sly dig directed towards her ex-husband Mohammed Shami. However, a number of social media users also considered it to be an uplifting message for the Indian team after their heartbreaking loss.

As it panned out, Team India amassed 240 on the board after they were invited to bat first by Australian skipper Pat Cummins. Rohit Sharma bludgeoned a scintillating 47 while Virat Kohli and KL Rahul crafted watchful half-centuries from their ends.

Later in the run-chase, India’s in-form pace attack comprising of Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Shami failed to secure a single Australian wicket following their triple powerplay strikes. Travis Head unfurled a run-chase masterclass to guide his past the finishing line of the final with seven overs to spare.

Shami, meanwhile, finished the 2023 World Cup as the highest wicket-taker of the tournament.
