The highly anticipated clash between India and Pakistan in the ICC Champions Trophy turned out to be a record-breaking event, drawing an astonishing 60.2 crore (602 million) viewers on JioHotstar. The match not only lived up to its hype but also set a new benchmark for live-streaming records. 

In comparison, the 2023 face-off between these two giants had gathered 17.3 crore viewers on TVand 22.5 crore viewers on Disney+ Hotstar (now rebranded as JioHotstar), making this year’s record a massive leap in viewership numbers.

The excitement was fueled by Virat Kohli’s brilliant performance, as he delivered a spectacular unbeaten century (100 runs), steering India to a solid victory while chasing a target of 242 runs. The viewership numbers saw massive spikes throughout the match. Right from the start, the buzz was evident, with the count reaching 6.8 crore viewers in the very first over. 

As the game progressed, especially during Pakistan’s final over, the viewership soared to 32.1 crore When India began their innings, the numbers rose to 32.2 crore and continued to climb steadily, peaking at 36.2 crore as India closed in on victory. 

This shattered the previous record of 3.5 crore concurrent viewers set during the ODI World Cup 2023, while also surpassing the 2.8 crore peak from the Asia Cup.

India’s triumph was sealed with a convincing 6-wicket win over Pakistan, led by Kohli’s masterclass. His final boundary, which secured the win, triggered massive celebrations among fans both in the stadium and across the world.
